Wanna know when I went from poor to wealthy?
It was when I came to realize – at a deep level – what a joke money and wealth really are.
All my early life I was convinced that money was so important. My family struggled over every dollar – coupons, savings, discounts, returns, arguments about bills, etc. I was trained at an early age to see the value in money. I was focused on getting good deals, smart ways of making a few bucks, being careful with my debt. And this kind of stuff was useful in that I had the experience of being responsible with money. I was a mature adult about cash at an early age, destined for good credit, savings, and careful spending of what I had.
That laid an important foundation. But that’s not what put me on a path toward wealth.
What put me on this path to millions was when I started to notice – when I really started to see – all the complete assholes and idiots that were wealthy.
The odd thing about being financially mature is you tend to get naïve. You get this automatic deep down respect for people who handle big businesses and great amounts of wealth. It’s a kind of hypnotic psychological seduction where your respect for money leads to a respect for people with money. Thoughts like, “That person is a complete jerk, but he’s rich so he must know something I don’t know.”
At some point, I slapped myself across the face and woke the fuck up.
Does some main event boxer really deserve that mountain of cash? How about a party scene socialite? What the fuck is a socialite anyway?
It helped that I had a degree in philosophy. I already had a respect for truth and the pursuit of knowledge. I respect intelligent people. For awhile, I was delusional enough to think that rich people were more intelligent.
More intelligent? In fact, they tend to be assholes no smarter than anyone else!
When I lost the respect I had for people with wealth, I lost my respect for money. And when that happened, it was like in the Matrix when Neo saw through everything and understood it all.
It was all a big sham. An unfair game rigged for generational wealth. The inheritors of money and power were making all the rules and distributing the rewards. And people are at their mercy scrambling for crumbs. When money and the people with money lost all their luster to me, I was able to use my rudimentary skills as a ‘financially responsible’ individual and take enormous calculated risks – realizing that the risks were not all that enormous at all! It was just some ridiculous worthless paper with relatively low value. I value health and my time …and the truth! They value this silly cash bullshit at the same level because it gets people to do what they want? Not me. I didn’t need it. I could make sacrifices. I could turn this small amount of funny money into a lot of funny money. Once I learned about the inside joke of how silly this stuff was, I was able to get in on the joke.
Now, I’m a multi-millionaire that makes more money in a few weeks than the average person makes in their lifetime. Does that mean something to you? If it does, then you don’t get the joke. You are the joke!
